DR Congo Advocates for Economic Model Shift at SADC Summit
The Democratic Republic of Congo urges SADC members to prioritize local resource transformation to enhance job creation and regional value chains. This call was made by Vice-Prime Minister Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita at the 46th SADC Summit, highlighting the need for a paradigm shift from raw material extraction to sustainable industrialization.

During the 46th SADC Summit in Durban, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) emphasized the necessity for member states to rethink their economic models to focus on local transformation of raw materials. Vice-Prime Minister Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita, representing President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, advocated for developing regional value chains centered on resources such as copper, cobalt, and lithium.
The DRC aims to create decent jobs and enhance productivity through industrial upgrading. Additionally, it calls for the effective implementation of the SADC trade protocol to bolster intra-regional trade and investment, further supporting economic integration and cooperation among member nations.
