Argentina's Taca Taca Copper Project Seeks Major Investment and Regional Collaboration with Chile
Argentina's Taca Taca project, developed by First Quantum in Salta, seeks $5.25 billion investment under the new RIGI framework. It will process 40 million tons of ore annually and produce up to 323,000 tons of copper. The project will share logistical resources with Chile, including a new 122.5 km power line and a 5 km railway connection to Mejillones. Successful completion could elevate Argentina's copper production to 1.5 million tons annually, positioning it among the top global producers.

Argentina's Taca Taca copper project, located in Salta and developed by First Quantum, has applied for $5.25 billion under the RIGI investment protection framework. The open-pit mine will initially process 40 million tons of ore per year, expandable by 50% from the fifth year, producing an average of 291,000 tons of copper annually.
Logistical operations will utilize Chilean resources, including a new power line and a railway link to Mejillones. If successful, Taca Taca could help Argentina significantly increase copper production to 1.5 million tons per year, enhancing its role in the global mining industry.
