Arkansas Solar Projects Powering Major Tech Firms
Arkansas is advancing significant solar projects primarily to supply energy to major tech companies, including Meta and Google. These initiatives underscore the growing reliance of the tech sector on renewable energy sources.

Arkansas is developing solar projects to supply power to large tech companies, notably Meta and Verizon. The Chalk Bluff Solar Energy Center, a 450-megawatt facility in St. Francis County, is set for completion by June 2027, dedicated to these companies.
Additionally, Invenergy's Decoy Solar Energy Center, a 155-megawatt project, could be operational by December 2027, also under a power purchase agreement with Meta. Entergy Arkansas plans to power Google's future $4 billion data center with its $1.6 billion Cypress Solar project, which will feature 600 megawatts of generation capacity. The industry must navigate the implications of tech dependence on renewable energy supply chains.
