Artemis II Crew Launches in Worcester-Designed Space Suits
The Artemis II crew is equipped with orange spacesuits designed by Worcester's David Clark Co., marking a significant achievement in local aerospace engineering. This mission highlights the collaboration of engineers and the importance of regional contributions to space exploration.

The Artemis II mission has commenced, sending its crew toward the moon in spacesuits developed by Worcester's David Clark Co. These suits, known as the Orion Crew Survival System, are critical during high-risk phases such as launch and reentry.
Project engineer Nick Deane, who transitioned from robotics to explosive ordinance suits, played a key role in their design after joining David Clark in 2020. Established in 1935, the company has a legacy in aerospace, providing gear for historic missions like Apollo 11.
Deane emphasizes teamwork in developing these suits, which undergo extensive prototyping and testing to ensure safety and functionality. This collaboration reflects the region's significance in advancing space technology.
