Arunachal Pradesh to Enhance Hydropower Capacity with 4.8 GW Under Construction

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik announced that the state has 1.2 GW of operational hydropower capacity and 4.8 GW under construction.

The state government has designated 2025-2035 as the 'Decade of Hydropower' and aims for 150 MW of rooftop solar capacity by 2030. A 250 MW unit of the 2,000 MW Lower Subansiri Hydropower Project has begun operations.

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation for the 186 MW Tato-I and 240 MW Heo projects on September 22, 2025. The state has signed MOUs worth Rs 6,375 crore at the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025, focusing on green industries.

Infrastructure improvements include new air connectivity and major road projects. Women's empowerment initiatives are ongoing, with over 1.4 lakh women in Self-Help Groups. The state's GSDP has grown 2.6 times over the past decade.
