Arvin Secures $5 Million Grant for Wastewater Plant Overhaul to Enable New Sewer Hookups
The City of Arvin has received a $5 million state grant to repair its wastewater treatment plant, which has been restricted from issuing new sewer hookups due to a cease and desist order. The improvements will allow the city to accommodate new businesses and housing. The project targets repairs to Pond Three and is scheduled to start on April 1, with completion expected by early August.

Arvin has secured a $5 million grant to overhaul its wastewater treatment plant, which has been under a cease and desist order since April 2023 due to inadequate capacity. This order restricted the city from issuing new sewer hookups, hindering local growth.
The treatment plant currently processes 1.2 million gallons of water daily, with a maximum capacity of 2 million gallons. Repairs, focusing on Pond Three, are set to begin on April 1 and conclude by early August. This project is anticipated to facilitate new sewer hookups, allowing for the expansion of businesses and housing as the city's population grows from 10,000 to 25,000.
