Ascend Elements' Apex 2 Project Receives 'Manufacturing Investment of the Year' Award in Poland
Ascend Elements' Apex 2 project was awarded 'Manufacturing Investment of the Year' by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) for establishing the EU's first fully integrated battery materials refining center. The facility, supported by a USD 320 million grant from Poland's Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, will refine spent lithium-ion batteries into low-carbon cathode materials using Hydro-to-Cathode® technology. This project aims to enhance the EU's strategic autonomy in critical raw materials.

Ascend Elements' Apex 2 project received the 'Manufacturing Investment of the Year' award from PAIH during the 2026 Investors Gala in Warsaw. The project involves the construction of the EU's first fully integrated battery materials refining center, which will process spent lithium-ion batteries into new, low-carbon cathode materials using Hydro-to-Cathode® technology.
The Polish government has granted Ascend Elements USD 320 million to support this facility's construction. The Apex 2 project aims to create an integrated, low-emission supply chain for lithium-ion batteries within the EU, reducing dependence on imports from high-risk markets and aligning with EU critical raw materials regulations.
