Ascent Solar Technologies Expands PV Solutions for Space and Ocean Monitoring in 2026
Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. has expanded its CIGS thin-film photovoltaic solutions for space applications through partnerships with NASA and NOVI Space Inc., focusing on rollable PV array blankets for Earth Observation. The company is also testing PV durability for ocean monitoring and has formed alliances with CisLunar Industries and Defiant Space Corp. to explore commercial and defense opportunities, aiming for increased collaborations in the EU by early 2026.

Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. engaged strategic partners including NASA and NOVI Space Inc. in 2025, expanding its CIGS thin-film photovoltaic solutions for space applications. A Master Services Agreement with NOVI will utilize rollable PV array blankets for Earth Observation insights from space, with delivery times significantly shorter than industry standards.
Ascent is also collaborating with NASA to develop technology for receiving beamed power via PVs. The company is working with an ocean monitoring firm to test PV durability in aquatic applications.
