ASEAN Diplomats Visit Hainan to Enhance Cooperation Following Free Trade Port Launch
From December 20 to 22, 2025, diplomats and officials from ASEAN Member States visited Hainan Province, invited by the ASEAN-China Centre. The delegation included ambassadors from Brunei and Cambodia, as well as senior diplomats from Malaysia and Indonesia.
This visit coincided with the launch of special customs operations at Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP). Vice Governor Liu Pingzhi highlighted that this initiative would promote cooperation between Hainan and ASEAN nations.
The delegation toured Haikou Jiangdong New Area and received briefings on Hainan's advantages and policies aimed at attracting foreign investment. They also visited the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site and attended the 2025 Wenchang International Aviation and Aerospace Sub-Forum. The delegates expressed expectations for enhanced cooperation with China in space technology and satellite data applications, following their insights into Hainan FTP policies.
