Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated Star Cement's Cachar plant, a 2 million tonne capacity facility powered by German technology. This private plant, equipped with a railway siding, represents one of Barak Valley's largest investments and aims to boost the local economy and create jobs.

Star Cement plans to increase production in Assam to 8-10 million tonnes. Recent infrastructure initiatives in Assam include a Rs 10,000 crore ammonia urea project and a Rs 22,000 crore express highway. The CM called for further investment from Star Cement to support employment opportunities in the state.
