Attica Approves 80 MW Olive Data Center Development in Spata with €300 Million Investment

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

The Region of Attica has approved the development of the Olive Data Center in Spata-Artemida, with an initial budget of approximately €300 million. GRECO MI will develop the center on a 6.23-hectare site, contributing to Greece's emerging data center ecosystem.

Total investment interest in Attica's data centers approaches €1 billion, indicating strong international interest. Notable projects include DATA4's Hermes-B data center in Paiania, with a potential investment of €500 million and a capacity of 90 MW, expected to be completed by early 2027, and Microsoft's data center in the 'Petra Gyalou-Voulia-Prokalisi' Business Park, targeting completion in 2028 with a capacity of 25 MW.

Additionally, DAMAC and PPC are collaborating on the 'Data in Scale' project, investing €150 million in a facility with 12.5 MW capacity. The increasing number of data centers is raising concerns over electricity and water demand, prompting a push for autonomous energy solutions and recycled water production.
