Aurora Labs Secures $1M Grant for Defence Production Scale-Up
Aurora Labs has been awarded $1 million from the Australian Department of Defence to enhance the production of its Micro Gas Turbine systems for defence applications. The funding, matched with an equal investment from Aurora, totals $2 million and will facilitate the acquisition of advanced manufacturing equipment, crucial for meeting rising demand in the defence sector.

Aurora Labs (ASX:A3D) has secured $1 million in funding from the Defence Industry Development Grants program, aimed at boosting production capabilities for its Micro Gas Turbine propulsion systems. This funding will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Aurora, amounting to a total investment of $2 million for a large-format commercial metal 3D printer at its facility in Canning Vale, Western Australia.
This move supports the transition from research and development to scaled manufacturing, particularly for autonomous systems and domestic guided munitions. The new equipment is essential for meeting the quality standards required for defence applications and transitioning to higher-volume manufacturing, aligning with global trends towards rapid production of attritable systems. Aurora's partnerships with organizations like MBDA and the Department of Defence enhance its position as a key domestic supplier within the defence production lifecycle.
