AuroraPH Provides Solar Power and Internet to Six Schools in Benguet, Philippines
AuroraPH, a program by Aboitiz Foundation Inc. in partnership with Aboitiz Renewables Inc., has provided solar power and internet access to six remote schools in Benguet province. The initiative includes solar power systems with storage batteries and Starlink internet, aimed at enhancing learning in underserved areas.
Beneficiary schools are Ampucao Elementary School, Bakian Guiniawan Elementary School, Awing Elementary School, Labney Primary School, Piminggan Elementary School, and Marcelo Marquez National High School. The program addresses energy gaps and promotes digital learning, with Awing Primary School extending solar power to the local community post-Super Typhoon Uwan.
Aboitiz Renewables operates several hydropower plants in the region, highlighting a commitment to sustainable energy and education. The initiative responds to significant educational resource shortages in the Cordillera region, where many schools lack essential facilities.
