Aurubis Launches Unique Complex Recycling Facility in Hamburg
Aurubis AG has inaugurated the Complex Recycling Hamburg (CRH) facility, a €190 million investment aimed at enhancing recycling capabilities for strategic metals. The facility is expected to process over 30,000 tons of additional recycling materials annually, improving the efficiency and resilience of Aurubis's operations while contributing to European supply chains.

Aurubis AG has officially launched its Complex Recycling Hamburg (CRH) facility, a project costing €190 million that will enable the processing of complex recycling materials, including copper, lead, and sulfur. The facility, equipped with a specially developed converter, can handle batches up to 45 tons at temperatures reaching 1400 degrees Celsius.
Once fully operational, CRH aims to recycle over 30,000 tons of additional materials annually, recovering critical metals essential for industrial applications. This initiative aligns with the EU's push for sustainable resource management and is part of Aurubis's broader strategy to enhance resilience and competitiveness in the market. The facility's advanced technology also emphasizes environmental standards, with one-third of the investment dedicated to air quality measures.
