Ausenco has been awarded a contract for engineering, procurement, and construction management services at the Hillside copper-gold project in South Australia. This contract, issued by Rex Minerals, encompasses a comprehensive delivery scope for greenfield operations, including plant design and critical infrastructure such as tailings and water management facilities.
The Hillside project, located approximately 150km from Adelaide, is a significant resource with an estimated 1.9 million tonnes of copper and 1.5 million ounces of gold. Ausenco's responsibilities will include detailed engineering, construction oversight, and commissioning, streamlining project execution.
The development aims for an open pit mine and processing plant, with initial production targeting copper and gold concentrate for export. The strategic investment reflects ongoing demand for copper linked to electrification and energy transition.
