Australia Launches Multi-State Waste-to-Energy Initiative for Defence Operations
The Northern Australia Defence Project, part of the Australian Defence Science and University Network, aims to develop waste-to-energy solutions for Defence operations. Six universities will focus on creating deployable microgrid and waste management systems to convert operational waste into usable energy, enhancing energy independence and sustainability.

The Northern Australia Defence Project, initiated under the Australian Defence Science and University Network, involves collaboration among six Australian universities to enhance Defence waste management. The research will focus on developing deployable microgrid and waste management systems that convert operational waste into usable energy by integrating solar photovoltaic generation and battery storage.
The project aims to improve reliable power access, reduce logistical demands, and advance clean energy goals under the National Defence Strategy. It will be implemented across Queensland, the Northern Territory, and Western Australia.
