Australian Navy Delivers Emergency Equipment to Lae, PNG
HMAS Leeuwin and ADV Reliant arrived in Lae, Papua New Guinea, delivering emergency supplies as part of the Pukpuk Treaty. This cooperation enhances maritime safety and strengthens bilateral defense ties.

The Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Leeuwin and ADV Reliant delivered emergency equipment, including a fire truck, to Lae, PNG, reinforcing the Pukpuk Treaty partnership. HMAS Leeuwin is engaged in hydrographic surveys around Umboi Island, providing data for updated nautical charts to enhance maritime safety and economic activity.
The visit, welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, reflects Australia's commitment to strengthening ties with PNG, allowing up to 10,000 Papua New Guineans to join the Australian Defence Force for training. This ongoing collaboration is vital for regional maritime security and community support in Lae.
