Avebe Partners with Schneider Electric for Grid-Independent Electrification in the Netherlands
Avebe has implemented an industrial electric boiler at its Groningen facility with Schneider Electric, achieving electrification without requiring grid upgrades. This project demonstrates a scalable model for decarbonization across energy-intensive industries facing similar grid constraints.

Royal Avebe and Schneider Electric have successfully electrified Avebe's Foxhol production facility in the Netherlands, integrating an industrial electric boiler while remaining within the existing grid's capacity. This initiative allows for the elimination of fossil-fuel heating and positions Avebe as a prosumer, actively supporting grid stability without necessitating public grid enhancements.
The solution leverages Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure platform, consolidating data from over 1,000 points to optimize energy management. This model can be replicated across Europe, providing a pathway for other industrial sectors to progress in decarbonization despite grid congestion issues that affect over 14,000 Dutch businesses. The Foxhol plant is also set to adopt onsite renewable energy generation and advanced monitoring capabilities.
