AWS UAE Availability Zone Outage Due to Objects Striking Data Center Amid Iran Attacks
Amazon Web Services experienced an outage in the UAE's ME-CENTRAL-1 region after unidentified objects struck its data center, causing sparks and fire. The incident occurred amidst escalating missile and drone attacks from Iran, impacting the mec1-az2 Availability Zone. AWS is working to restore connectivity, which may take several hours. Other zones in the region remain operational.

An outage occurred in the AWS ME-CENTRAL-1 region in the UAE after unidentified objects struck the mec1-az2 Availability Zone, causing sparks and fire. This incident coincides with missile and drone attacks from Iran, which have escalated recently.
AWS reported that the fire department cut power to the facility while addressing the fire, and restoring connectivity may take several hours. Other Availability Zones in the region are functioning normally. The situation follows a series of retaliatory attacks by Iran, which targeted various infrastructures in the Gulf.
