Ayre Floating Offshore Wind Farm Receives Approval for Onshore Works in Scotland
The Ayre floating offshore wind farm has gained approval from the Highland Council for its onshore transmission works, including cable landfall at Sinclair's Bay and connections to a new substation near Banniskirk Hub. The 1GW project plans to install up to 67 floating wind turbines off the coast of Orkney and Caithness.

The Ayre floating offshore wind farm has received permission from the Highland Council to begin onshore works, which include a cable landfall at Sinclair's Bay and underground cables to a new substation adjacent to the Banniskirk Hub near Spittal. This 1GW project aims to deploy up to 67 floating wind turbines in waters east of Orkney and north-east of Caithness, each with a maximum blade tip height of 356m and a rotor diameter of 326m.
