Azerbaijan and World Bank Enhance Energy Collaboration with AZURE Project
Azerbaijan and the World Bank are expanding their partnership in the energy sector, focusing on the AZURE Project aimed at integrating renewable energy. This initiative is crucial for strengthening Azerbaijan's power transmission network and enhancing the grid's flexibility.

Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Finance, Anar Karimov, met with the World Bank's Energy Sector Mission to discuss the AZURE Project, which aims to integrate 1 GW of renewable energy capacity into the national grid. The mission included key figures such as current task team leader Roger Coma Cunill and incoming leader Sameh Mobarek.
Discussions centered on financing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to improve grid flexibility and resilience. The World Bank reiterated its commitment to technical support for power grid modernization, tariff reforms, and offshore wind energy development.
Future investment areas and the advancement of renewable energy projects were also key topics. Strengthening this partnership is essential for Azerbaijan's energy transition and infrastructure modernization.
