WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION
Azerbaijan plans to address water infrastructure issues in the Absheron Peninsula by 2035, as stated by Riad Akhundzade of the Azerbaijan Water Resources Agency. The focus will be on modernizing outdated infrastructure and increasing water availability for the region’s 4.5 million users.
Key initiatives include building new reservoirs, enhancing treatment facilities, and replacing some agricultural and industrial water use with alternative sources. The development of desalination projects and rainwater collection strategies are also part of the national water strategy.
