Azerbaijan to Present New Hydrogen Strategy and Battery Storage Plans Soon
Azerbaijan's National Hydrogen Strategy is set for an update within four months, following the initial phase's completion. Additionally, a Battery Energy Storage Center at Aghdash substation is expected to be commissioned soon, enhancing the country's renewable energy integration.

Azerbaijan's updated National Hydrogen Strategy and Implementation Plan will be unveiled in three to four months, as confirmed by Javid Abdullayev from the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources. This follows the initial phase, which produced the 'National Strategic Vision on Hydrogen' with support from the EBRD.
The second phase's implementation roadmap will be developed by DNV Energy Systems Germany GmbH. Concurrently, a Battery Energy Storage Center (BESC) is anticipated to be operational at the Aghdash substation shortly, complementing existing storage solutions.
The Absheron BESC has a capacity of 250 MW, aiding the integration of 1,850 MW of renewable energy. These developments may significantly enhance Azerbaijan's energy security and sustainability efforts.
