Babcock Power Services, Riley Power, and IHI Corporation Collaborate on Low-Carbon Boiler Fuel Conversion
Babcock Power Services, Riley Power, and IHI Corporation have formed a strategic collaboration to advance low-carbon fuel conversions for power plant boilers globally. This partnership aims to leverage ammonia as a key fuel in reducing carbon emissions while enhancing existing power generation assets.

Babcock Power Services Inc. (BPS), Riley Power Inc. (RPI), and IHI Corporation (IHI) have entered a strategic collaboration to facilitate low-carbon fuel conversion and co-firing retrofits for power plant boilers.
Focused on ammonia, the partnership combines BPS and RPI's decades of experience in boiler retrofitting, having completed over 17 gigawatts of conversions, with IHI's advanced ammonia combustion technology. IHI recently demonstrated a 20% calorific substitution ratio in ammonia fuel conversion at JERA's Hekinan Thermal Power Station in Japan. This collaboration aims to support power plants in implementing decarbonization strategies, potentially transforming the industry's approach to carbon emissions reduction.
