Babenhausen's Data Center Project Fails: $3 Billion Investment Withdrawn
The planned data center in Babenhausen has collapsed after Stack Infrastructure withdrew its investment. This decision results in a loss of potential tax revenue and job creation for the city, which is now seeking a new investor to repurpose the Aumovio site.

The proposed $3 billion data center campus on the former Continental site in Babenhausen has been halted due to the withdrawal of US investor Stack Infrastructure. Aumovio's difficulties in navigating the approval process and unresolved issues regarding energy supply, water, and employment have contributed to this setback.
The city, facing the termination of Aumovio's production by the end of 2026, is now pursuing new investors and development plans. Local political demands for financial guarantees and specific conditions have complicated the investment landscape. Without resolving connectivity and infrastructure concerns, attracting new investors may prove challenging.
