Badirammogo Water User Association Launches Energy Infrastructure Programme in Limpopo, South Africa
The Badirammogo Water User Association (BWUA) is launching a Regional Energy Infrastructure, Storage and Distribution Programme to address energy instability faced by its members. The Limpopo Energy Users Association (LEUA) will manage the project, which aims to support the R25-billion Olifants Management Model Programme.
Key components include a 300 MW pumped-storage hydropower facility, a 100 MW battery energy storage system, and the development of transmission and distribution infrastructure. The Industrial Development Corporation issued a request for proposal (RFP) on November 5, 2025, with a closing date of November 26. The selected provider is expected to start work immediately and complete the project within 18 months.
