BAE Systems Powers Hybrid-Electric Flight Test at Farnborough Airshow

BAE Systems successfully powered the first flight test of GE Aerospace's hybrid-electric propulsion demonstrator at the Farnborough International Airshow. The Saab 340 B test aircraft demonstrated potential for fuel savings and emission reductions, marking progress in sustainable aviation.
BAE Systems developed a complete battery energy storage system, including a lithium-ion battery management system, which enhanced power without increasing weight. This flight test follows GE's recent ground test of a fully integrated hybrid-electric powertrain and serves as a step toward commercializing hybrid-electric systems for narrow-body aircraft.
