BAE Systems Prepares for UK T-7 Trainer Competition Amidst Industry Developments
BAE Systems is poised to promote the Boeing T-7 advanced jet trainer for the UK Royal Air Force as the competition launch awaits. This initiative aligns with the UK's Strategic Defence Review, which emphasizes the need for a cost-effective fast jet trainer to replace aging aircraft.

BAE Systems is preparing to advance its promotion of the Boeing T-7 advanced jet trainer (AJT) for the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) as it awaits a formal competition launch. The UK's Ministry of Defence is expected to release requirements for AJT to replace current BAE Hawk T2s and T1s.
The Defence Investment Plan (DIP), originally scheduled for last Autumn, is anticipated prior to the July NATO Summit, which may clarify procurement plans ahead of the Farnborough air show. BAE is considering final assembly of T-7s in the UK, with Warton identified as a potential site.
The RAF currently operates 28 T2s, with the T1 fleet expected to retire by 2030. Leonardo and KAI are also vying for this opportunity, while Boeing has withdrawn the T-7 from the US Navy's training system contest.
