Baguio hotels must upgrade or build wastewater treatment systems due to an EMB order disconnecting them from the aging STP. The city seeks ₱1.2 billion funding for STP rehabilitation, with deadlines set for compliance by August 31 and December 31. The existing STP, built in 1986, is overwhelmed by wastewater flow. Baguio faces potential fines for pollution and is exploring new funding options for wastewater management improvements.

Baguio hotels and accommodations are mandated to upgrade or establish their own wastewater treatment systems, following an EMB directive to disconnect from the outdated sewage treatment plant (STP). The city government is pursuing ₱1.2 billion in funding for the STP's rehabilitation.
Hotels generating over 12 cubic meters of wastewater per day must comply by August 31, with others needing to build systems by December 31. The existing STP, designed in 1986, is surpassing its capacity due to increased wastewater flow. Baguio risks daily fines for pollution, prompting renewed efforts for funding and infrastructure improvements.
