Barbados to Trial 50 MW Wave Energy and Desalination Project in Partnership with Export Barbados
A new agreement with Export Barbados (BIDC) will initiate a 50 MW wave energy and desalination project in Barbados, following a six-month study under 'Project WEB.' Researchers confirmed the viability of a wave energy farm along the island's Atlantic coastline. This project aims to support Barbados' net-zero emissions target by 2030 and enhance energy independence, addressing challenges faced by traditional renewables.

Barbados has finalized an agreement with Export Barbados (BIDC) to trial a 50 MW wave energy and desalination project, marking a significant step in commercializing wave energy in the Caribbean. The initiative follows Project WEB, which involved a six-month study confirming the potential for a wave energy farm along the Atlantic coastline. Wavepiston expressed commitment to advancing this partnership to help Barbados achieve its net-zero emissions goal by 2030, addressing the energy independence needs of the Small Island Developing State.
