Barren County Land Use Committee to Review Zoning Ordinance Draft
Barren County's Land Use Committee will discuss the initial draft of a zoning ordinance aimed at regulating land use, with a meeting scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. This ordinance is the first comprehensive effort of its kind in the county, reflecting a significant shift in land management strategy.

The Barren County Land Use Committee will meet on Thursday to review the first draft of a proposed zoning ordinance. This meeting follows an overview by the Joint City-County Planning Commission and aims to set the groundwork for regulating land use, focusing on agricultural protection.
The committee is composed of citizen members, magistrates, and planning commission members, and will hold a total of three meetings before presenting a preliminary ordinance on September 21. The planning commission is also working with consultant Reese True on regulations for high-intensity technological infrastructure amidst ongoing legal challenges regarding a moratorium on data center applications in Cave City.
