Basseterre Desalination Plant Commissioned for 24-Hour Water Supply in St. Kitts and Nevis

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

The Basseterre Desalination Plant has been officially commissioned to produce up to two million gallons of potable water per day, transitioning from construction to full operation on 24 February 2026 at C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Park.

This project, supported by the Republic of China (Taiwan) and involving Royal Utilities Ltd., aims to provide a reliable, climate-resilient water supply for Basseterre. It is expected to reduce water interruptions and ensure 24-hour service to households and businesses, aligning with the Government's Sustainable Island State Agenda focused on infrastructure resilience and equitable access to services.
