Bastrop County Approves Tax Incentives for EdgeConneX's $1.4 Billion Data Center in Cedar Creek

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Bastrop County commissioners approved a tax incentive in December 2024 for a $1.4 billion data center campus in Cedar Creek, developed by EdgeConneX. The project, known as DFW33220N, will span 2.8 million square feet and take five to eight years to complete.

The first of four buildings is set to be finished by June 2025, with a construction cost of $440 million. Local residents express concerns over increased noise and traffic, while some hope for infrastructure improvements.

The county awarded EdgeConneX a 10-year property tax abatement, anticipating about $100 million in revenue for Bastrop ISD and $7 million for Bastrop County during this period. Currently, the land generates approximately $25,000 in annual tax revenue.
