Battery Energy Storage System Enhances EV Charging in Abergavenny
A new battery energy storage system has been implemented to optimize rapid electric vehicle charging in Monmouthshire. This system aims to enhance sustainability and reliability of EV chargers, particularly in rural areas with limited grid capacity.

Osprey Charging has installed a battery energy storage system at the Lamb & Flag pub near Abergavenny to support rapid EV charging. This system enables the chargers to utilize renewable energy more effectively, minimizing reliance on the grid during peak demand.
By reducing grid connection sizes, operational costs are lowered, allowing further investment in charging infrastructure. The initiative also facilitates the expansion of charging sites in rural locations, addressing high demand amid limited grid capacity. Osprey collaborated with Palmer Energy Technology Ltd on this project, which is expected to inform future battery storage installations across their network.
