Bavaria Develops Digital Charging Atlas for Electric and Hydrogen Buses

The Landesverband Bayerischer Omnibusunternehmen (LBO) is developing a digital charging atlas to provide verified data on charging and refueling locations for electric and hydrogen buses in Bavaria. This project responds to EU regulations that mandate zero-emission technology for heavy-duty vehicles, thus aiding transit operators in infrastructure planning.

Current energy supply management for public transport in Bavaria is fragmented; the atlas aims to centralize information on power capacity and compatibility to improve operational efficiency. The initiative also highlights the differing infrastructure needs for battery-electric and hydrogen vehicles, with the latter requiring specific refueling stations. The LBO plans to verify data from various entities to ensure accuracy and will roll out the platform for real-time updates to member companies, potentially enhancing regional strategies for sustainable transport.
