BayWa r.e. Secures $416M for JVR Energy Park Solar-Battery Project in Jacumba

ENERGY STORAGE

BayWa r.e. has secured $416 million in funding for the JVR Energy Park, a solar and battery facility under construction in Jacumba, California. The project aims to deliver 90 megawatts of alternating current and 127 megawatts of direct current electricity, with an energy storage capacity of 280 megawatt-hours.

It is expected to supply electricity to approximately 57,000 homes and is slated to become operational by autumn 2026. Funding comes from a construction-to-term loan arrangement led by Société Générale, with additional investments from Wafra Inc. and Acadia Infrastructure Capital.

A 20-year power purchase agreement has been signed with San Diego Community Power, which serves multiple cities and unincorporated areas in San Diego County. The project will cover around 600 acres and is projected to avoid 500,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its lifetime.
