BCA Initiates Stabilization of Stivala Hotel Foundations Due to Water Issues
The Building and Construction Authority is stabilizing foundations at the Stivala hotel site due to water-logging. This intervention follows a stop work order issued after a pump failure resulted in seawater infiltration, raising concerns about construction practices.

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has begun stabilization efforts for the Stivala hotel in Sliema due to water-logged foundations. This initiative was prompted by a stop work order from the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) after a malfunctioning pump caused seawater to fill the construction site.
To address safety and compliance, the BCA is enforcing stricter conditions, including the use of specialized equipment. Complaints from residents regarding flooding and excessive noise have intensified scrutiny on the construction activities, which have been noted for occurring outside of permitted hours. These issues could lead to further regulatory actions and impact future construction projects.
