Berryville Council Approves Negotiations for Wastewater Bar Screen Amid Higher Bids
Berryville Town Council has authorized negotiations with CPP Construction Co. after their bid of $488,000 for a wastewater bar screen exceeded estimates significantly. This project is crucial as it aims to prevent costly damage to the wastewater treatment plant from foreign materials.

The Berryville Town Council has initiated negotiations with CPP Construction Co., the lowest bidder at $488,000, for a bar screen at the wastewater treatment facility. This figure surpasses the initial estimate of $250,000, attributed to rising costs in screening equipment and related construction work.
Council members reviewed four bids privately before the decision, with the highest bid reaching $727,000. The bar screen is expected to reduce maintenance costs by filtering out large items that could clog the system.
Installation is projected to be completed within six months post-approval. Additionally, the council adopted an $18.7 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year, maintaining the real estate tax rate at 13.9 cents per $100 assessed value. Water and sewer rates will also see increases to fund improvements.
