Bharti Airtel Targets 1GW Data Center Capacity Amid Market Share Concerns
Bharti Airtel plans to reach a data center capacity of 1 gigawatt, currently holding a 10-12% market share. Increased capital expenditure and focus on sovereign cloud solutions reflect the company's strategy to enhance its presence in the data center market.

Bharti Airtel aims to establish a data center capacity of 1 GW, currently dissatisfied with its 10-12% market share. The company reported a 12% year-on-year increase in capital expenditure for Q4FY26 to ₹16,000 crore, totaling ₹47,500 crore for FY26, driven by investments in data centers, 5G, and fiber deployment.
Airtel is set to build 56 edge data centers over the next 24 months to support long-term growth. Additionally, the transition to a standalone 5G network is complete, enhancing the fixed wireless access service.
Despite challenges in memory and chipset supply, Airtel expanded its fiber-to-the-home broadband by over 8 million connections in FY26. The company is also focused on accelerating postpaid growth in the mobile segment.
