Bhutan Reduces Bitcoin Reserves to 3,400 Amid Major Sales
Bhutan's Bitcoin reserves have decreased to between 3,400 and 3,800 BTC, valued at approximately $263 million to $272 million. The government's strategy of selling in smaller batches aims to minimize market disruption, with projections indicating potential depletion of state-held Bitcoin by October 2026.

Bhutan has reduced its Bitcoin reserves to between 3,400 and 3,800 BTC, resulting from extensive sales conducted in small batches to avoid market disruptions. The remaining holdings are valued at $263 million to $272 million, with the most recent transaction involving 100 BTC.
This shift follows significant sales from a peak of around 13,000 BTC, acquired primarily through state-supported mining operations utilizing hydropower. Analysts suggest that if sales continue at this rate, the reserve could be depleted by October 2026, unless policy changes occur. Bhutan's focus on liquidating its crypto assets into cash highlights its ongoing strategy in the cryptocurrency market.
