Bill Gates Engages with Korean SME on Eco-Friendly Toilet Development
Bill Gates met With Masters in Seoul to discuss the Household Reinvented Toilet (HRT), a project aimed at improving sanitation in developing countries. The Gates Foundation, which has invested $400 million since 2011 in sanitation projects, emphasizes HRT commercialization to combat waterborne diseases.

During a visit to Seoul, Bill Gates met with With Masters CEO Kim Jong-ho to discuss the Household Reinvented Toilet (HRT) project. The HRT is designed to function as a self-contained sewage treatment system, recycling wastewater on site without needing sewer infrastructure.
Solid waste is processed into non-toxic granules, and liquid waste is treated to produce reusable water. With Masters has applied innovative wastewater recycling technology previously developed by Kim at Samsung Electronics.
The Gates Foundation's investment in sanitation projects, totaling $400 million since 2011, highlights the strategic importance of HRT in addressing public health challenges in developing nations. The rapid progress of With Masters may influence future collaborations in sanitation technology.
