Bitfarms to Redevelop Former Bitcoin Mine in Moses Lake into AI Data Center by December 2026
Bitfarms Ltd. plans to redevelop its former Bitcoin mining facility in Moses Lake into a high-performance AI data center by December 2026, covering six acres and featuring a 100,000-square-foot building designed to Tier 3 standards. The project, which will utilize advanced liquid-cooled GPUs for AI workloads, aims to generate greater net operating income than previous mining operations and aligns with the growing industry focus on AI and cloud computing. The city has issued a Determination of Non-Significance regarding the environmental impact of the redevelopment.

Bitfarms Ltd. plans to transform its former 18-megawatt Bitcoin mining facility near Moses Lake into a high-performance computing and AI data center, as outlined in a city planning document from January 20. The project will cover six acres at Tyndall Road Northeast and Randolph Road Northeast, featuring a data center building of up to 100,000 square feet, designed to meet Tier 3 standards.
The city issued a Determination of Non-Significance regarding environmental impact. Bitfarms aims to complete the redevelopment by December 2026, focusing on advanced liquid-cooled GPUs for AI workloads.
CEO Ben Gagnon indicated that this shift could yield greater net operating income than previous Bitcoin mining efforts. The transition aligns with a broader industry trend towards AI and cloud computing, enhancing Grant County's status as a hub for data centers.
