Black Mountain Seeks Rezoning for $10 Billion Data Center Near Forest Hill Amid Local Concerns
Black Mountain is pursuing a rezoning request for nearly 40 acres of its 450-acre campus in Fort Worth for a $10 billion data center, raising concerns among Forest Hill residents and officials. Neighbors express worries about increased electricity demand, water supply, traffic, and the condition of LonStephenson Road.
Mayor Stephanie Boardingham emphasized the need for community involvement in discussions regarding the project's impact, particularly on local infrastructure. The zoning application includes provisions for supporting uses like healthcare and retail.
Black Mountain's CEO, Rhett Bennett, noted that the project aims to offset buildings away from neighbors and contribute funds for local road upgrades. The zoning commission will review the request on January 14, followed by Fort Worth City Council on February 10.
