Black Rock Advances Green Graphite Production in Tanzania with Key Milestones
Black Rock Mining is on track to initiate construction at the Mahenge graphite project in Tanzania, with a focus on completing early works by late Q2 2026. Key developments include compensation payments to the community and preparatory work for a 220kV power transmission line, enhancing the project's energy security and reducing environmental impact.

Black Rock Mining is preparing for construction at the Mahenge graphite project, anticipating full funding and final investment decision (FID). Completion of early works, including access road improvements and earthworks, is expected by late Q2 2026.
Despite challenges from heavy rainfall, contract pricing for these activities remains aligned with previous engineering designs. A significant milestone includes the completion of community compensation for the lower access road, reinforcing local engagement.
The project aims to produce up to 340,000 tonnes per annum of premium graphite concentrate and is backed by strategic partner POSCO. The Ifakara to Mahenge power line will provide clean energy, crucial for the project's sustainability and cost competitiveness compared to traditional power sources.
