Black & Veatch Appointed Owner's Engineer for 500MW Eccles Battery Storage Project in Scotland
Black & Veatch has been appointed by Matrix Renewables as Owner's Engineer for a 500MW/1GWh Battery Energy Storage System in Eccles, Scotland. The facility aims to power around 100,000 homes and enhance grid stability in the UK.
Located along major transmission corridors, this project marks Matrix Renewables' entry into the UK market and will use advanced battery technology to provide flexibility to the national grid. Black & Veatch will offer technical support throughout the project, including EPC design review, construction monitoring, and commissioning oversight.
This project aligns with the UK Government's net zero strategy and aims to enhance grid resilience. Black & Veatch has significant experience in battery energy storage, having managed 8.9GWh as EPC and 74GWh as owner's engineer globally.
