Bloom Energy's Rise: From NASA Tech to $65 Billion Valuation
Bloom Energy, founded by K.R. Sridhar, has achieved a valuation of $65 billion by leveraging NASA-derived fuel cell technology, which produces clean energy. The company's revenue reached $2.02 billion in 2025, marking a 37% increase from the previous year, driven by demand from data centers and AI hyperscalers seeking reliable energy solutions.

K.R. Sridhar, CEO of Bloom Energy, transformed the company's manufacturing process by heeding advice from former Intel CEO Andy Grove, emphasizing the importance of engaging with frontline workers. Bloom Energy, founded in 2006, utilizes fuel cells that run on natural gas or hydrogen, producing low-emission electricity.
The company went public in 2018 and has deployed over 1.5 gigawatts of power globally, enough for one million U.S. homes. With a valuation of $65 billion, Bloom is capitalizing on the increasing energy demands of data centers and AI technology. Despite previous cash burn and competition from batteries and renewables, Bloom's strategic focus on operational improvements and partnerships keeps it competitive.
