Blue Energy Secures $380M for Prefabricated Nuclear Reactor Development
Blue Energy has raised $380 million to advance its prefabricated nuclear power plant project in Texas, aiming for a 1.5 GW capacity. This funding will support procurement and project development, addressing high construction costs and timeframes that have hampered nuclear energy deployment.

Blue Energy has successfully raised $380 million, led by VXI Capital, to develop a prefabricated nuclear power plant in Texas, targeting a construction start in Q3 2026. The project, which will deliver 1.5 GW of power, seeks to minimize construction risks through centralized manufacturing in shipyards, potentially enhancing automation and reducing costs.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved Blue Energy's construction approach, allowing initial turbine energization with natural gas before transitioning to nuclear. This innovative method could pave the way for more predictable nuclear deployment and attract private financing, historically limited due to high costs and uncertainties.
