Blue Origin to Launch 5,408 Satellites for TeraWave Communication Network
Blue Origin is set to launch 5,408 satellites for its TeraWave communication network in late 2027, aiming to deliver data transfer speeds of up to six terabits per second for up to 100,000 users, including data centers and corporations. This initiative responds to the growing demand for AI data processing and complements the existing Leo satellite constellation, which includes 3,200 satellites. Currently, SpaceX's Starlink leads the market with approximately 10,000 satellites in orbit.

Blue Origin plans to deploy 5,408 satellites for the TeraWave communication network, scheduled for the last quarter of 2027. The network aims to provide data transfer speeds up to six terabits per second and serve up to 100,000 users, targeting data centers, governments, and corporations.
This initiative comes amid rising demand for AI data processing, necessitating new infrastructure. TeraWave complements another satellite constellation, Leo, also linked to Jeff Bezos, which will include 3,200 satellites. Currently, SpaceX's Starlink leads the market with about 10,000 satellites in orbit.
