Blue Origin's New Glenn Rocket Misplaces Satellite During Third Launch
Blue Origin's New Glenn heavy-lift rocket misdeployed its payload, Blue Bird 7, into an unintended lower orbit. This incident impacts Blue Origin's competitive positioning against SpaceX in the commercial launch sector.

Blue Origin confirmed that its New Glenn rocket placed the Blue Bird 7 satellite into a lower than intended orbit during its third launch. The rocket, launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, marked the reuse of a previous booster, which successfully landed in the Atlantic Ocean.
The New Glenn system aims to compete with SpaceX in the commercial launch market. New Glenn reached space on its first flight in January 2025 and carried two NASA Mars orbiters on its second mission about ten months later. This misdeployment may affect Blue Origin's credibility and market share in the competitive launch industry.
