BlueWave Energy has submitted plans for two solar arrays in Plainfield, Massachusetts, following the town's recent approval of another solar project. The larger project, named 20 East Street, will cover 27 acres with a 6-megawatt capacity, enough to power approximately 1,800 homes, requiring the removal of trees on 23 acres.
The smaller project at 95 North Central will use an agrivoltaic system on 5 acres and generate 2.4 megawatts for under 700 homes. BlueWave aims to negotiate payment in lieu of taxes with the town and will own and operate the arrays for 25 to 30 years.
Construction is expected to take three to six months. The Planning Board is reviewing specifications for the battery systems and addressing resident concerns about the projects.
